Platelet Rich Plasma for Treatment in the Shoulder and Elbow: A Review of Current Literature

PRP is an important treatment option available for management of upper-extremity musculoskeletal conditions. In the shoulder and elbow practice, PRP proves to be valuable in the management of multiple conditions in terms of short-term and long-term outcomes. Common limitations to the included studies are nonstandard PRP preparation methods and thus different PRP composition, and different dosing, which may affect outcomes. Further randomized controlled trials are needed with standardized PRP protocols.
